Allen Family - Gen. 1 Chap. 1
I have asked the residents of Area 62 to fill us in with what has taken place in their lives. Today we hear from Isabelle Allen, our elvish princess.
So I understand you have been told of my little, um, situation. I do hope you won't judge me on account of my ears. I know they don't look like everyone else's but I promise you I am not that different from all of you, really.
Well, I've not been long in Area 62, but so far, so good. It seems that of all the places I have lived in my life this is this place that seems like it will be the accepting and tolerant of my differences. After all, I've made no comment about the green people that walk the streets here. But anyway, here I am on my first day in Area 62.

When I got here I managed to buy myself a plot of land. It was all that was available for me and I am sorry to say that it cost me almost all of my mother's life savings. It left me with hardly any money at all. I was so poor that I could only afford a single wall on which to put a toilet and shower. Some people might feel sorry for me and my meager beginnings but living your life as an exile makes you an expert at starting from nothing and starting from nothing was certainly something I was doing!
Since I was so incredibly broke I knew I had to get a job right away. There was just something about always growing up without money that made me desire to have some when I got older. I have always had that obsession. Unfortunately, my exiled state did not allow me to attend a university as my mother had so hoped for. She did not believe an elvish princess should be without proper education. However, I do plan to have all of my own children attend university. Listen to me going on about children when I don't even have a roof over my head. Fortunately, the delivery of the Area Daily gets delivered to every new resident regardless of a subscription so I was able to peruse the want ads.
To my immense pleasure I found a job with my qualifications as a mailroom technician at Secrecy Enterprises. The job didn't see me making as much money as I would have liked but you have to start somewhere right? Since I was so incredibly broke I was just getting ready to call a cab to head downtown to see if I could scrap together any extra cash but doing some odd jobs around the town. Just as I was getting ready to call a bunch of people showed up on my "doorstep." They claimed they were the "welcome wagon." I was shocked. I had never been welcomed in any of the places I had ever lived before so I was kind of excited that they showed up. There was a guy who seemed really into the stars called Vicund Curious (poor guy with such an awful name!), a woman who says she is married to an alien named Jenny Smith and a good-looking single guy who is about my age named Ajay Loner. I was feeling pretty desperate for cash and I really don't know what came over me but (can you believe this?) I started rapping. Rapping! I have no musical ability but there I was busting away on my property! I have to admit I'm a little embarrassed by my behavior.
But you'd never believe it! They actually liked! I think they thought I was more funny than talented but it didn't matter because Ajay and Vicund gave me tips! It wasn't much but it was a couple extra dollars in my pocket!
I have to confess that I was a little excited by Ajay's tip. He is really cute! I'd really like to get to know him a little bit better. He's just so darn cute!
I spent the next few days really focusing on my job. I wanted to impress my boss so that maybe he'd give me a job that made a little bit more money. It worked because not long after I had stared as the mail tech I had gotten promoted to being my bosses executive assistant. It was better than the other job but not by a lot. I was making more money but it still wasn't a lot and I certainly was having a hard time making ends meet back at my own place. I hated that I had to catch a stupid carpool everywhere that I went. I hated that I spent my nights alone eating Chinese food out of greasy paper boxes.
I was starting to think that I was spending too much time focusing on my job. I was lonely. I tried to start a relationship with Ajay but he seemed more interested in making money of his own and let's be honest for someone interested in money there wasn't a whole lot that I had to offer him. I was feeling more and more down.
Finally, one day at work, my luck started to change. I made a wise investment and made $750! That was far more money than what was in my bank account. I was so excited that I used the money and I bought a car. I know what you are thinking, I don't even have walls why would I buy a car but let me tell you, it is so difficult trying to coordinate schedules with the carpool people. I had to get a car. Here's a picture of it:
I know what you are thinking, it is a pretty awful looking first car and I wouldn't disagree with you. But bear with me because its all that I could afford and I bought it off a local teenager so the paint job is hideous but I only plan on it being a starter car.
Since my luck was changing and nothing was going to happen between Ajay and myself I decided I had spent too much time alone, it was time for me to have a date. There was a high level executive that I worked with named Gary Walton. Gary had been trying to get me to go out with him for ages. I finally decided that it was time to have that date. So, I called Gary up and asked him. I don't really consider that I asked him out since he had been on me for so long about it. I just finally told him yes.
Since I was pretty embarrassed of my car and Gary was well to do, I decided that I would meet him at a local club called Midnight Flows. The club had a restaurant in it and Gary and I ate dinner there before doing some dancing.
It seems that while I had a great time on my date with Gary, he really isn't quite the guy I'm looking for. Although, I must confess that my date with Gary did have its purposes. It seems that he put in a good word for me with the powers that be (whoever they may be) and got me promoted to a field sales rep. It was a better job than what I had before and I was starting to be noticed within the company. The pay was better and allowed me to get a few more things for my wall-less palace.
Not long after Gary got me promoted. I made a good call about some antiques in an antique shop that I passed by on lunch one day. The call was so good that it got me another promotion. The CEO of Secretive Enterprises said I had a real knack for things and promoted me to a junior executive! It is a real increase in salary and I am hoping that before long I can finally get some walls up and have a real house!
But I was lonely once again. Gary and I remained friends but I really craved a much deeper relationship. I wanted to have a husband and I wanted to have children of my own. Gary was certainly not the man for me. But I think that perhaps I met the man of my dreams while I was out with Gary. I know it will sound strange but I have been hearing a lot from the host of the restaurant at Midnight Flows, Scott Gray. Scott is quite a bit older but he has such a distinction about him. We had some fun times together so I decided to invite him over and cook him dinner.
Scott came over and absolutely loved the meal I had prepared for him. I was so grateful for my recent promotion so that I could afford a refridgerator and stove! We had great conversation and I just couldn't help myself, I flirted with Scott. We spent the evening together and when Scott left he gave me a kiss goodbye!
I am in absolute heaven! Would you believe that I am in love? Well, believe it I am! Scott and I have been spending much more time together and he even brings me gifts to show me how much he cares for me. Although, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with a DJ station but its the thought that counts.
Who knows? Maybe the next time you see me I'll be a married woman.
Well Isabelle, we certainly hope that when you return you'll be married. You do have a legacy to carry on.
A what? What are you talking about?Oh, did I forget to mention that? We'll talk about it next time.

Know what I love about legacies? I love seeing how everyone sets up the lawn and prioritizes things. You have a mat and a car, neither things I would ever buy before walls! Awesome!!
